Specifications revealed for new Kia Sorento
Kia has officially announced full specifications for its all-new third-generation Sorento SUV, which has been updated with new kit and fresh, sleek design.
More stylish, refined and better equipped than any of its predecessors, the new third-generation Sorento is on sale now, with prices starting from £28,795 for the entry-level model.
Long, lower and wider than the previous model, the new Kia Sorento is built on an all-new platform, while an extended wheelbase gives greater room for each of its versatile seven seats.
Sleeker profile and new kit
Keeping the familiar design cues of the outgoing model, Kia has updated the new version with a sleeker profile, with a bold and muscular look with elongated and swept-back headlamps for a striking appearance.
Four trim levels are available: the entry-level KX-1, KX-2, KX-3 and finally the range-topping KX-4 model. Each comes with permanent all-wheel drive and a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.
Standard kit is impressive, with each Sorento model coming with a choice of alloy wheels ranging between 17 and 19 inches, plus cruise control, reversing sensors and LED daytime running lights.
Moving up the range, the KX-2 trim adds chrome door handles, automatic lights and wipers plus black leather upholstery and a seven-inch touchscreen satnav system and a reversing camera.
KX-3 models get a panoramic sunroof with automatic blinds, xenon and a larger eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, alongside alloy pedals and a premium sound system by Infinity.
Finally, the premium KX-4 model features ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree around view monitor for a full view outside the car, alongside other touches like a parking assist function.
Powerful new engine
Power for each model comes from a Euro 6-compliant 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine, which develops 197bhp and can take the Sorento from 0-62mph in just nine seconds, before hitting a top speed of 124mph.
Automatic models are equipped with a new stop-start system to improve fuel economy, and as a result the all-new Sorento SUV can return up to 49.6mpg with CO2 emissions from 177g/km.
The Sorento also benefits from the new Dynamax all-wheel drive system that was first introduced on the Sportage, which automatically monitors wheel grip and distributes power to each wheel for optimum traction.
