Orders officially open for new Ford EcoSport
Order books are now officially open for the updated Ford EcoSport, which is priced from just £14,245 and is due to arrive in dealerships this October.
Ford’s first supermini-based SUV, the EcoSport now benefits from a range of styling and body upgrades, alongside improved driving dynamics and a range of new equipment options.
Joe Bakaj, Ford Europe’s vice president for product development, said: “The stylish and practical Ford EcoSport offers customers a flexible and economical SUV and with these enhancements EcoSport looks and feels even sharper.
‘Looks and feels sharper’
“EcoSport was developed in some of the most rigorous terrains and climates across the globe to make it an even more compelling option for customers as part of our growing European SUV range.”
The re-jigged crossover now gets the option of taking the tailgate-mounted spare wheel in favour of a tyre repair kit, while the tailgate itself has been revised to allow easier access to the boot.
Additional styling tweaks include the addition of a distinctive EcoSport badge on the rear, while Ford has also added a range of upgrades for the interior in order to boost comfort and desirability.
The Titanium trim now comes with part-leather upholstery, while all EcoSport models come with optional privacy glass, plus Ford’s SYNC infotainment system with a four-inch touchscreen as standard.
A charcoal black lower instrument panel now features on the interior, centre console and door boards, while the instrument cluster now features a dimming function and new chrome surrounds.
Range of new kit and features
Buyers can also now specify an optional Winter Pack, which adds features like a heated windscreen, heated mirrors and heated front seats, while the EcoSport’s on-road ability has also been upgraded.
Other kit that’s due to be available on the updated EcoSport includes the option of satellite navigation, plus a Rear View Camera that helps drivers manoeuvre while reversing.
Ford’s engineers have tweaked the springs, dampers and power steering settings, while a stiffer rear torsion beam and 10mm reduction in body height reduces body roll and improves handling.
Finally, the Ford EcoSport has been enhanced with thicker sound-deadening materials to increase refinement, while the gearbox and engines have been revised to offer slightly more power.
Due to arrive in dealerships this October
The 1.5-litre diesel now offers 94bhp, a 5bhp improvement, and delivers up to 64.2mpg with just 115g/km of CO2 emissions, meaning that it’s now Euro 6-compliant.
Likewise, the 123bhp 1.0-litre petrol EcoBoost delivers up to 52.3mpg with just 125g/km of CO2, while the larger 1.5-litre petrol engine deliver 44.8mpg with 149g/km of CO2.
Priced from £14,245, the new Ford EcoSport mini SUV is available to order from Perrys Ford dealerships now, with the first models expected to arrive this October.
