Lotus Cup UK race report - Silverstone

Race report- Silverstone

Following on from their race at Snetterton 300 Perrys chairman Ken Savage and his son Ryan took to their Lotus 211 and Lotus Elise S1 to compete at the Silverstone Circuit.

Silverstone the former World War II bomber base, is known as the home of the British Grand Prix- making it an iconic place to compete.

Ken Savage races at Silverstone

The day started unlucky for Ken as his Lotus 211 faced technical difficulties in qualifying; resulting in him qualifying in tenth position. However after a good start to the race Ken managed to make up some places and gain speed; proving a difficult qualifying round wasn’t going to hold him back.

Unfortunately Ken’s speed gain was short lived as an accident on track caused the safety car to come out- this was then later followed by a second accident resulting in an extended safety car period.

Ken managed to finish 9th position overall and second in class.

Ken’s son Ryan races with BTCC star

Kens son Ryan had a successful qualifying round, starting the race in thirteenth position out of thirty cars in his class. Ryan started with two professional drivers ahead, including BTCC star Jack Goff- giving Ryan the ultimate race challenge as he made his debut only late last season.

Unfortunately for Ryan his car began to suffer engine problems on the grid and after half a lap Ryan had to retire the car.

The next round of the Lotus Cup UK will be at Rockingham on the 24th of May, follow us on Twitter or like us on Facebook to find out how Ken and Ryan do in the next round.
