Kia Picanto Adds New High-End Quantum Trim

Available in three-door guise only, the Kia Picanto Quantum is powered by a 1.25-litre petrol engine producing 84bhp. This engine can be mated to either five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic transmission.

Using the standard manual gearbox the Picanto Quantum can go from a standstill to 60mph in 11 seconds and reach a top speed of 106mph. It also returns a combined fuel economy of 62.8mpg and CO2 emissions are recorded at 106g/km.

When using the automatic gearbox instead, the Picanto Quantum does the zero to 60mph sprint in 12.9 seconds and the top speed is lowered to 101mph. The combined fuel economy meanwhile is altered to 50.4mpg and CO2 emissions are recorded at 130g/km.

The special edition Picanto is finished in a Titanium Silver metallic paintwork with premium black cloth interior upholstery. It sits alongside the existing Picanto White in Kia’s ‘Originals’ programme.

The standard equipment list for the Kia Picanto Quantum is certainly extensive. It includes 15-inch alloy wheels, automatic air conditioning, a smart key entry system with engine start/stop button and an electric sliding and tilting sunroof.

Also standard are electrically folding, adjustable and heated door mirrors with LED indicator lights, front fog lights and a six-speaker audio system.

Automatic headlight control is also standard on the Picanto Quantum and this feature offers both ‘see-you-home’ and ‘welcome’ lighting. The former setting refers to the fact that when you stop your car and turn the engine off, the front lights will stay on for a period of time, which could prove useful particularly during night time.

With the new Quantum edition the Picanto’s equipment is expanded even further as Kia’s ‘Urban Pack’ comes as standard. This adds reverse parking sensors, LED ambient interior lighting and an illuminated driver’s side vanity mirror.

The pack also adds UV solar windscreen glass to reduce glare and UV light in the cabin, while privacy glass is placed for the rear side windows and tailgate.

The Kia Picanto Quantum is on sale now, priced at £11,895 when using the standard manual gearbox or £12,495 in automatic form. In comparison the new Quantum model is just £150 more than the Picanto White city car.
