Our Commitment to Mental Wellness

In 2022 Ben, the automotive charity, announced that one in two employees within the sector are affected by mental health.  This is a shocking statistic and really spurred us into action at Perrys.  We have long advocated for mental health awareness and over the years have partaken in various fundraising and donation events, but we wanted to do more - we wanted to create something within the business that meant everyone at Perrys felt they had someone to turn to.

With this in mind, we are pleased to introduce the Perrys Wellness Initiative. We have made a pledge to place staff wellbeing at the centre of everything we do. In doing so we have implemented a wellness strategy that involves making a formal Group Commitment, the provision of support and resources including our Employee Assistance Programme, developing a network of Mental Wellness Champions, and continuing our fundraising and charitable endeavours.

We are truly grateful to our network of Mental Wellness Champions who have kindly volunteered to take on this role. We were delighted with the uptake and amount of interest for these positions; whilst we have always held family values at the core of the business, the community feel from this network of volunteers is remarkable and something we truly appreciate.  We now have at least one champion in each of our sites and have provided training through Mind to support them in this role.

Additionally, we have introduced mandatory mental health awareness training for all managers in the business, to ensure they have the knowledge and capability to recognise, deal with and support others with their mental health awareness.  It is our hope that providing these resources will benefit everyone. People are at the heart of Perrys and we place great importance on looking after each other, which has driven our focus in this area. We are committed to fostering a positive working environment and it is Perrys aim to remove stigma by encouraging open and honest dialogue around mental health.
