New Ranger Raptor
Bi-turbo diesel engine. 213bhp. 500Nm of torque. 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Uprated suspension. Now that’s the kind of pick-up you can get behind, and it all comes as standard with the Ranger Raptor.
But that’s not all. The suspension isn’t just uprated with performance dampers - the track is wider than the standard Ranger with 30% more travel. This means the Raptor isn’t just designed to go off-road - it’s designed to go off-road at great speed and it has a special Baja driving mode to do it (as well as 5 other drive modes).
The Raptor dominates any surface, and it looks sensational doing it with its flared arches, 18” alloy wheels, off-road tyres and huge ground clearance. Muscular is the word, power’s the game. Bi-xenon headlights, a heated windscreen, powered heated front seats, keyless entry and start and a reversing camera are standard features.
If you were given free reign to design a muscular and menacing pick-up, there’s a good chance you’d end up right where the Ranger Raptor is. There’s no better looking pick-up on the road if power and road presence is your thing, with the Raptor’s 283mm ground clearance, 2.18m wide stance, big brakes, flared wheel arches and diecast aluminium side steps giving it more presence than any Ranger before it.
The Ranger Raptor is special inside. You’ll find bespoke seats that are contoured especially for off-roading and the front seats are heated with eight-way power adjustment so you can get comfy no matter your size or shape. The dashboard is dominated by an 8” touchscreen complete with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, with a multi-function steering wheel and a new instrument cluster with twin dials putting you in full control.
The Ranger Raptor is powered by a bi-turbo 2.0 EcoBlue TDCi engine with 213bhp and 500Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a quick-shifting 10-speed auto transmission. It’s muscular, very capable and will return over 30mpg combined.
The uprated suspension consists of front and rear Fox Racing Shox dampers, rear coilovers, a uniquely modified chassis frame for greater strength and new, forged aluminium front and rear suspension arms. The result of all this? Unstoppable performance on any terrain.
The 4WD system has 6 drive modes to maximise performance. There’s also Hill Descent Control, cruise control, trailer sway control, intelligent speed assist and active braking for safety, as well as a rear parking camera and rear parking sensors.
The Raptor is an expensive bit of kit, so it makes sense that it has bi-xenon headlights, a heated windscreen, power-folding door mirrors, keyless entry and start, ambient lighting, unique suede upholstery, satellite navigation and a load box roller shutter with carry bars.
