Vauxhall Zafira Tourer Claims Mini MVP Award

In the last few years, the title of best mini-MPV has been fought out by the Ford C-MAX and Volkswagen Touran. However, the more up-to-date Vauxhall Zafira Tourer managed to drive away with the title this year.

The Vauxhall Zafira Tourer has proved to be a big hit with BusinessCar readers, with the magazine itself praising the model's versatility over its rivals.

BusinessCar also hailed the Zafira Tourer's class-leading CO2 emissions, which are as low as 109g/km, and fuel economy of up to 68.9mpg.

In terms of practicality, the magazine was pleased with the model's "light, sliding and folding chairs that move around the back of the cabin in just about every conceivable way". BusinessCar commented that it was happy that the predecessor models' heavy seats were removed.

The Vauxhall Zafira Tourer is priced from £21,370, with a total of six trim levels available for customers to choose from. Trim levels consist of ES, Exclusiv, Tech Line, SRi, SE and Elite.

As standard, all Zafira Tourer MPVs come equipped with air conditioning, cruise control, DAB digital radio, CD player with MP3 connectivity, aux-in socket, daytime running lights and steering wheel-mounted controls.

In terms of safety and security features, all models have drivers and front passenger's airbags, front seat side-impact airbags, full-size curtain airbags, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and remote central locking.

Moving up the trim levels brings desirable kit such as 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, sports seats, panoramic sunroof and windscreen, ambient lighting, climate control, sat-nav, Bluetooth, rain-sensitive wipers, dark tinted rear glass and a rear roof spoiler.

Numerous optional packs are also available to customers, such as the VXR styling pack, towing pack, seat comfort pack and sight and light pack.

Engines on offer range from 1.4-litres to 2.0-litres, with petrol and diesel options available. In addition, depending on the model chosen, the engine within the Zafira Tourer can be mated to either a manual gearbox or an automatic transmission.

Depending on the model chosen, the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer will offer between 109bhp and 192bhp on-tap.

The BusinessCar 'Mini-MPV' award is not the first accolade that the Zafira Tourer has received, with Vauxhall's popular MPV having claimed the prestigious 'Golden Steering Wheel' honour in 2012.
