Vauxhall Corsa VXR blue limited edition revealed
The Corsa VXR range, the performance version of Vauxhall's standard supermini, has been updated to include the grille and headlamps from the updated Corsa.
The special edition Blue model adds, as the name suggests, metallic blue paint to the exterior as well as 18" alloy wheels and dark-tinted glass to complete the exclusive look.
Inside, blue highlights to the air vents, stitching on the leather steering wheel and seat trim all add to the standard VXR specification.
The unique features are limited to styling touches, however. Underneath the Corsa VXR Blue retains the powerful 190bhp 1.6-litre engine from the standard VXR. The engine delivers a top speed of 140mph and can hit 60mph from standing in 6.8 seconds.
Performance is helped by lower, stiffer sports suspension, uprated brakes and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP).
The Corsa VXR Blue enters a competitive market in the UK, where hot hatches have traditionally sold well compared to European markets. The likes of the Mini Cooper Works, Citroen DS3 Racing and Renaultsport versions of the Clio are all established models in the segment.
However, Vauxhall is offering the Corsa VXR Blue for less than £20,000 including the new 20 per cent rate of VAT, undercutting its rivals in terms of price.
Vauxhall Corsa VXR Blue special edition costs £19,425 and can be ordered now. The first deliveries will begin in February.
Vauxhall has not revealed how many will be sold, but the Corsa VXR Blue is a 'limited edition', hinting at a limited supply of the hot hatch in the UK.
