Vauxhall Cascada review
The Vauxhall Cascada took its inspiration from the Vauxhall 30-98, a classic 20th century sports car. How does the 21st century incarnation fare?
This car is undeniably stylish – its dynamic design oozes elegance and class.
The Vauxhall Cascada has a grille that has been sculpted carefully to impress onlookers, and the long sleek lines of the car are uninterrupted by ungainly pillars and unnecessary adornments. However, there is a chrome strip that delineates the roof from the body, harking back to its classic touring car roots.
This may be a convertible car, but it can be used throughout the year. Vauxhall redefined the soft-top car when creating the Vauxhall Cascada – making it look good whether the top was up or down, and creating a system that acts quickly (17 seconds to be precise) so you can make the most of the British summer.
The roof of the Vauxhall Cascada is extremely durable. It’s weatherproof, car wash proof and requires no maintenance whatsoever. It even has a long-term colour fast and is UV-resistant so even the sun won’t affect this car’s good looks.
You can even opt for the acoustic soft-top for better noise control and thermal comfort, just in case things get a bit noisy on the open road.
The Vauxhall Cascada itself embodies quality and functionality. It includes Vauxhall’s signature daytime running lights, but the splashings of chrome and the other high-quality materials create flowing surfaces that set this car apart from the rest in its class.
Despite being a convertible, the Vauxhall Cascada has plenty of space for all of its passengers and their luggage.
This car has an amazing thirteen storage compartments for all of your bits and bobs. The luggage compartment has 280-380 litres of storage space with the roof open or closed. And if that’s not enough, you can use the FlexFold system to fold one or both of the rear seats to achieve up to 750 litres of space!
The Vauxhall Cascada was designed with comfort and space in mind. It has four deep-contoured spacious and supportive seats to make sure that you and your passengers feel at ease during your road trips. The support is adjustable, the seats are well ventilated and the feel of the seats is second-to-none.
The Vauxhall Cascada’s easy entry system slides the front seats back and forwards with a touch of a button – making ferrying people around that little bit easier.
The cabin is filled with high-quality materials; there’s even Morrocana wrapping around the dashboard and instrument panel. Everything in this car is pleasing to the eye and to the touch. The Vauxhall Cascada is available with a cloth or leather interior, but remember the leather is also detailed with saddle stitching (very sophisticated).
This car includes a lot of gadgets, including acclimatisation options that allow each individual to set their own temperature and a heated steering wheel.
As standard, the Vauxhall Cascada has a system that includes:
- 7 premium speakers
- 7-inch screen with a high res colour display
The Navi 650 system includes all of this and Vauxhall’s IntelliLink Infotainment system. The Navi 950, on the other hand, is top of the range and includes all of that plus:
- POI database
- 3D landmark icons
- Text to speech
- Smartphone screen projection (through wi-fi)
- Integrated browser
- Universal hands-free phone with Bluetooth and enhanced voice recognition
Whichever option you go for you can trust that you’ll never be bored in the Vauxhall Cascada. Another bonus is that all of these systems are driver-orientated, so you get to choose what songs to play on your long drives and have complete control of the sat-nav (hopefully saving you from a few family arguments!)
On the road
The Vauxhall Cascada benefits from superior body stiffness thanks to the Vauxhall HiPerStrut suspension technology that delivers high ride comfort and ultra-low levels of noise, vibration and harshness. This is combined with WattsLink rear suspension that ensures optimum tracking.
Vauxhall have also included a comprehensive range of driver assistance systems in this car; adaptive forward lighting, a front and rear view camera system and park assist technology all helps you make sure you’re driving safely in your flashy new Vauxhall Cascada.
This car looks fantastic; the smooth and sleek lines set it apart from other convertibles in its class.
Available in both petrol and diesel engines, with start/stop technology and ecoFLEX drive assistance, the Vauxhall Cascada is eco-friendly and great value for money.
The spacious and comfortable nature of this car lends itself to long luxurious journeys in the summer months, but don’t be afraid to take it out later in the year either. It’ll hold steady with the best of them, and if you do get that rare mid-November sunshine, you’ll be ready for it!
