SEAT Launches Musicathon Contest
SEAT has launched a music contest, Musicathon, which will see its winners jetting off to Barcelona, Berlin and Los Angeles to record in a famous studio, as well as leaving 2,000 euros richer.

X-Factor

The X-Factor style competition, which is running under the title, ‘Show your sound to the world’ is open now to up and coming music and sound talents across the UK. Following on from the success of last year’s 48-hour Archithon, which led to the creation of SEAT’s digital museum, this project’s aim is to create the next SEAT sound tag to feature across its international marketing campaigns.

Players

In the UK, SEAT has partnered with two players, Digital Spy and Talenthouse. Through them, four ambassadors have been signed up to promote the competition and encourage talent coming through the ranks to apply. Ady Suleiman, a singer/songwriter, Femme, a fellow singer/songwriter/producer, Bloodflower a Wales-based Electronica duo, and lastly, Jade Avia, a radio presenter for Capital Xtra/DJ and host.

The brief

Contestants are being given a single, simple brief - submit a piece of sound design or music between 30 and 90 seconds in length that reflects the pulsing, sophisticated metropolitan city of Barcelona, SEAT’s vibrant home city.

Stages

The exciting competition has three distinct stages. The first involves national contests, with two winners from each being selected by a high-profile judging panel to move onto the second stage in Berlin. There, at the Finale, entrants from across the globe will be holed up for 36 hours in the uber-stylish setting of the nhow hotel, going head-to-head in its own recording studio. After plenty of caffeine-fuelled late nights and early mornings, three people or duos will eventually emerge victorious on 8 May 2016, as well as be 2000 euros better off.

L.A

Once settled into the stunning surroundings of a world famous recording studio in Los Angeles, the surviving teams will spend five days collaborating with a highly regarded sound branding agency to create the next SEAT Sound tag. The Musicathon is the second time that SEAT has relied on co-creation, following the success of last year’s Archithon held in Barcelona with 40 German and Spanish architecture students, which led to the development of SEAT’s digital museum.

Entry

Some key points for the Musicathon is that it is open to entrants 18 years and over, two people are permitted per group and that only one entry per person or email address (up two sound pieces per entry) will be accepted.
