Range Rover Sport Wins Another 4x4 Award

Fending off numerous strong rivals for the award, this latest accolade is just one of recent 4x4 awards the Range Rover Sport has taken already this year.

The UK Car of the Year is an independent set of awards designed to highlight and advise on the best new cars on the market in the UK. The awards are designed specifically for UK customers, with all road tests taking place on UK roads.

The panel of 27 professional journalist judges comprises some of the most respected names in motoring journalism who geographically represent the UK as a whole.

This most recently launched SUV from Land Rover received plenty of praise from members of the UK Car of the Year panel. The editor for MSN Cars, Tim Pollard, called it "A brilliant multi-purpose vehicle: a combined luxury cruiser, mud-plugger, stylish town plaything and family transport."

Meanwhile the editor for Top Gear magazine, Tom Ford, called the 4x4 "A Range Rover Sport finally worthy of the name." He added it "Rounds off an extremely compelling Range Rover range."

The Range Rover Sport is available with a selection of V6 and V8 engines with CO2 emissions as low as 194g/km on a combined cycle at 38.7mpg. There's also the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 which develops 510bhp, which lets the Range Rover Sport sprint from a standstill to 62mph in 5.3 seconds.

Customers have a choice of three equipment levels - 'HSE', 'HSE Dynamic' and 'Autobiography Dynamic'. A fourth trim level called 'SE' and available for TDV6 models will launch this spring.

An extensive choice of colours, finishes and details enables customers to create the ultimate bespoke SUV.

Thanks to its new-generation Terrarin Response 2 system computer, the Range Rover Sport can adapt the suspension and power distribution to tackle all sorts of low-grip surfaces, like mud or snow.

Inside the Range Rover Sport is not only filled with a lot of luxury gadgets but its also very spacious and practical. Able to seat up to seven, the 4x4 has 958 litres of cargo space to offer as standard. The rear seats can be folded to increase the Sport's loading capacity to as much as 2,013 litres.

Standard kit for the Range Rover Sport, which currently starts from £59,995, includes rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors and a rear parking camera.
