Peugeot 308 named Best Company Car to Buy
The Peugeot 308 has added yet another accolade to its long list of awards after having been named the Best Company Car to Buy by Business Car Manager magazine.
Peugeot’s 308 was chosen by the business motoring magazine’s editors thanks to its ultra-efficient range of powertrains, plus its spacious, comfortable cabin and stylish good looks.
According to Business Car Manager, all cars in the category had to qualify for 100 per cent first year allowances to even be eligible, with emissions up to only 95g/km.
Alongside this, each nominee had to pass stringent tests for performance and fun-to-drive aspects, with the 308 standing out on top with its incredible emissions figures that are as low as 82g/km.
This is the latest prize that the 308 has taken, after it took the top spot at the Car of the Year Awards, having been named 2014 European Car of the Year.
Ralph Morton, editorial director at Business Car Manager, said: “Already Car of The Year, Peugeot can now add the Best Company Car to Buy Award, to its swelling shelves of silverware for the new 308.
“The 308 has been on a diet, shedding 140kg along the way. This and the range of super-efficient petrol and diesel engines, equal a Peugeot hatchback and SW estate range that is a much better option for company car buyers.”
He added that the 1.6-litre diesel model with its extremely low CO2 emissions figures allowed small businesses to benefit from important tax breaks, leaving them more capital to spend elsewhere.
As well as that, Business Car Manager also noted the 308’s low running costs, fuel economy of over 90mpg and its decent performance with entertaining characteristics on the road.
Revealed in the latter half of 2013, the Peugeot 308 caused such a stir amongst buyers that Peugeot had to add an additional production shift at its factories to keep up with demand.
Standard equipment includes alloy wheels, cruise control and parking aids, while higher trim levels get dual-zone air conditioning, reversing cameras and sports seats with passenger lumbar support.
The 308 is available with four petrol and five HDi diesel engines, plus a choice of next generation six-speed automatic gearboxes or standard manual transmissions.
Each will feature class-leading emissions, with the BlueHDi 1.6-litre version that Business Car Manager chose the pick of the bunch thanks to its economy and efficiency.
The Peugeot 308 range is available to buy from Perrys Peugeot dealerships now, with prices starting from £14,495 for the hatchback and £16,845 for the estate model.
