Peugeot 2008 launched following pre-order influx
This impressive performance number for Peugeot’s new car reflects results in other markets around Europe over the past two months.
With more than 32,000 units sold around Europe so far, Peugeot reports it has already beaten its early sales objectives with the new 2008.
In the UK alone Peugeot have had 1,323 orders confirmed for the new 2008, which will rival models including the Renault Captur and the Nissan Juke in the compact crossover segment.
Like the Captur the 2008 is based on a supermini, specifically in this case the Peugeot 208. The 208 has already proved a hit in the UK market, helping Peugeot to as many as 56,253
Two-thirds of the 2008 models which have been ordered in the UK already are diesel-powered. The most popular ordered specification of the 2008 is the 92bhp e-HDi diesel engine model in Allure trim.
Standard equipment on the 2008 in Allure trim includes 16-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and automatic dual zone air conditioning.
All 1.6-litre petrol and diesel models in Allure and Feline specification come with Peugeot’s unique ‘Grip Control’ as standard. This feature electronically adjusts the car’s settings to adapt its handling on low grip conditions.
In regards colour choices for pre-orders 2008 models, 36 per cent have been ordered in the Bianca White finish.
Second most popular is Pearl White with 18 per cent take-up. It means that together the two white shades offered for the 2008 are accounting for more than half of all orders. Cumulus Grey is the third most popular colour, with 14 per cent ordered in this finish.
The Director of Peugeot UK, Neil Moscrop, commented: “We’ve been thrilled with the number of customers who have made a concrete commitment to the 2008. That the two higher-grade trim levels are getting so much attention shows what a fantastic product we’ve got, both in terms of specification and value for money.”
The Peugeot 2008 is offered in four trim levels and prices begin from £12,995 for the basic Access+ trim. Pricing increases to £13,895 and £14,995 for the Active and Allure trims respectively. The range-topping Feline specification is priced from £17,450.
