Peugeot 108 Roland Garros Special Edition unveiled
Peugeot has announced that its new 108 city car will be getting the special edition treatment with the release of the new 108 Roland Garros Special Edition model.
The first ever Roland Garros-inspired Peugeot vehicles debuted in 1989 with the release of the 205 and 405 estate special editions, and the badge has cropped up again and again over the past 26 years.
Specially developed in partnership with officials from the French Open, each model and body style chosen has been tweaked to closely match the image of tennis, from which they get their namesake.
Exclusive styling and equipment
This time round it’s the dinky 108 which gets the Roland Garros treatment, exclusively available on the 108 TOP! convertible version and with a range of unique trimmings and features.
The new 108 Roland Garros Special Edition is based on the mid-level Allure model with a choice of either solid Diamond White or metallic Raven Black exterior finishes.
Along with the new paint options, the special edition 108 features distinctive Roland Garros badging and orange door mirrors for a sporty aesthetic, along with 15-inch alloys with orange centre caps.
Peugeot continues the funky orange trimmings on the interior cabin with orange trim on the cloth upholstery, along with exclusive Roland Garros-branded carpet mats.
Further features on the exclusive special edition includes automatic air conditioning and Peugeot’s Open & Go keyless entry system along with a range of other equipment.
Released in July last year, the new Peugeot 108 replaced the hugely popular 107 with a more premium and sophisticated feel, supporting the brand’s push upmarket.
Available to order now
Ivo Groen, the 108’s design director, said: “The 107 had a very cab-forward ‘mono-volume’ silhouette, which at launch in 2005 was very modern.
“We wanted to give the 108 more of a nose and the powerful feeling that comes with that. We wanted to reduce the glass and increase the sculpting of the body, and at the same time give it a timeless elegance.”
Priced from £12,495, the Roland Garros Special Edition is the first special edition version of the 108 and is available to order from Perrys Peugeot dealerships around the country now.
