New hickory brown Citroen DS3 unveiled
Previous special editions have come from the pens of designers
such as Yves Saint-Laurent and Orla Kiely, but the latest model has been
designed by the winner of an international design competition.
The roof pattern, described as an 'abstract gold adhesive
decoration' was entered by designer Flavio into the Citroen Creative Awards
before it was chosen to adorn the new car.
The Hickory brown decoration will be included in the vast
array of customisable choices available for the DS3 supermini and can be viewed
on Citroen's online configurator.
The Citroen DS3 was launched in 2010 as the first in
Citroen's DS Line of cars. Introduced to make the brand more desirable, Citroen
designed the DS3 to offer more premium materials inside and with a wealth of
customisable options.
Designed to appeal to young, fashionable buyers, the DS3 was
launched with a 'Street Style' ad campaign to highlight its urban appeal.
The engine line up, which starts with a sub-100g/km
Airdream+ diesel engine, also delivers city-friendly running costs thanks to
its exemption from the London congestion charge and VED for its entry-level
unit.
Available in three trim levels, the DS3 has already been a
success for Citroen with a host of international awards.
These include several design awards for both the interior
and exterior, and Top Gear's prestigious Car of the Year 2011 title.
The Citroen
DS3 is the first of three cars under the DS Line moniker. The second,
the Citroen DS4 hatchback will go on sale in the UK this year and the third,
the DS5 family car, is expected to arrive early in 2012.
Prices for the two new models have not been revealed, but
the Citroen DS3 can be bought for £11,700 for entry-level models.
