Mazda6 Takes CarBuyer's Large Family Car Award

The Mazda6, sold in five-door saloon and Tourer estate guises, received strong praise from the motoring website CarBuyer.

CarBuyer awarded the Mazda6 for offering the best blend of attributes users demand for their large family cars. These relevant attributes include efficiency, quality, reliability, safety, technology and practicality.

The editor-in-chief of CarBuyer, Steve Fowler, commented: "The Mazda6 is the perfect large family car, winning this Carbuyer award in 2013 and again this year. It offers plenty of space and practicality in a package that's affordable to run, great to drive and just as good to look at."

For 2014 the Mazda6 range comprises of 20 saloon specifications and 16 Tourer models in total.Supported by Mazda's groundbreaking SKYACTIV driving technology, the Mazda6 range features some of the world's most advanced petrol and diesel engines.

The Mazda6 range also benefits from a regenerative brake system, known as i-ELOOP. This feature stores electricity created during braking for powering electrical systems such as headlights, climate control, audio system or electric windows.

The latest Mazda6 is capable of delivering a combined fuel economy figure of up to 72.4mpg, and CO2 emissions start as low as 104g/km.

The SKYACTIV engines and driving technology are available on other new cars from Mazda, including the CX-5 crossover and the new-generation Mazda3.

Another appealing aspect of the current Mazda3 range is that carries a maximum five-star safety rating from the Euro NCAP crash tests. This was achieved thanks to the company's strategy of enhancing the safety of all its new vehicles.

Depending on model, there is a choice of six equipment levels. These include 'SE', 'SE Nav', 'SE-L', 'SE-L Nav', 'Sport' and 'Sport Nav'. There are also two petrol engines and two diesels in total, plus six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.

Standard equipment for the latest Mazda6 includes 17-inch alloys, push button start/stop engine technology, cruise control, and also air conditioning.

Also included as standard are a leather steering wheel with inbuilt controls, front fog lights, rear LED lights and a four-speaker CD audio player.

Mazda6 prices start at £19,595 for the saloon version and at £21,315 for the Tourer guise.
