High-roof Ford Transit Custom launched
The high-roof version is just £500 more compared to low-roof equivalents of the Ford Transit Custom. Whereas the Transit Custom currently starts from a recommended retail price of £17,495 in its low-roof guise that means the high-roof starts from £17,995.
The Ford Transit Custom has already been proving a hit with commercial vehicle operators in the UK and other countries. It has proven so popular that it has been named 2013 International Van of the Year.
Now the Tranist Custom should appeal to more customers with this extra-practical high-roof variant.Boasting 370mm greater load height than the low-roof model to increase the distance from floor to roof to 1.78m, and offering a maximum load volume of up to 8.3 cubic metres (with a full bulkhead fitted).
The high-roof of the Transit Custom is unique in its segment due to its all-steel construction that offers more durability than a composite roof construction, along with roof rack compatibility and a maximum load of 100kg.
The load-through hatch enables loads of up to 3.0m in length (3.4m for the long wheelbase derivative), which should prove good for transporting pipes or ladders safely.
This van’s loadspace also features ultra-bright LED lighting. The high-roof Transit Custom also offers outstanding fuel economy with CO2 emissions from 178g/km delivered by the improved UK-built 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel with optional fuel-saving stop-start technology.
The Ford Transit Custom is currently the only van to have achieved a maximum five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, and the high-roof model also delivers advanced Ford safety technology.
This includes SYNC with Emergency Assistance, a rear view camera and a lane keeping alert detection system.
Commercial vehicle operators can order a high-roof Transit Custom now, with first deliveries arriving later this year.
