Extensive details published for the Renaultsport Clio 200 Turbo
Amongst the new highlights for his highly anticipated new performance models is its six-speed Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) gearbox with aluminium gearshift paddles fixed on the steering column, boasting a shift time of under 150 milliseconds in Race mode.
The new Clio hot hatch offers three driving modes: Normal, Sport and Race, the latter turns off the Electronic Stability aid and gearshift changes become solely manual.
To reassure any sceptics who might think the new Renaultsport Clio any less focused on road or track than before, its makers have confirmed it can still be specified with a Cup Chassis.
It's also got two other tantalising features to really impress drivers, specifically Launch Control and the world's first sub-supercar multi-change down function. Both of which might just come in handy at track days or on a summer's drive.
The new model packs 197bhp however, allowing the five-door car to cover the 0-62mph sprint in 6.7 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds swifter than the previous Renaultsport Clio.
While it's unlikely the first area hot hatch customers tend to have in mind, the extra element of practicality offered by making this new Renaultsport Clio a five-door is still bound to appeal particularly to family buyers.
Similar but regardless distinguishable from its humbler standard Renault Clio sibling, the Renaultsport model uses distinct 17" or 18" Renaultsport alloy wheels. Other styling changes include the rear diffuser and lip spoiler, F1-style front blade and rectangular chrome twin exhausts.
Those wishing to make their new hot hatch stand out even further can opt for Renault's brand of metallic paint, finishing the Clio in either Liquid Yellow or Flame Red.
The sporty styling updates apply to the inside as well. Among these differences are a leather steering wheel, Renaultsport front sports seats, bespoke grey instrument backgrounds and aluminium pedals and gearlever. Red detailing also features heavily, as it colours the visible stitching on the steering wheel's 'straight ahead' position marker, the air vent surrounds and door panel beading.
The expansive standard equipment list meanwhile includes air conditioning, electronic traction control, keyless start and entry functions and an integrated MediaNav infotainment system complete with a seven-inch touchscreen.
More equipment comes along courtesy of cruise control, electric door mirrors and Renaultsport front seats.
Focusing on the range-topping Lux specifications and you'll find even more luxuries to play with. For instance, the MediaNav system morphs into the integrated R-Link multimedia system. It features the same seven-inch touchscreen, but adds a TomTom satellite navigation device with three months free subscription and Renault App Store access.
Added convenience is also provided via the auto headlights and wipers, climate control, electrically adjustable and folding door mirrors, extra tinted rear windows and tailgate, plus electric rear windows.
The range-topping Lux model will also add an on-board telemetry system for an extra £95. It displays real time torque, G-forces, lap times and standing starts among others, as well as the ability to download data to USB.
Rounding off the plethora of technological additions is R-Sound Effect. Thanks to the fitment of R-Link, Lux trim buyers will be able to enjoy this built-in fun app for free, which reproduces the sound of several high-performance engines and plays them back via the car's own speakers.
Both trim levels also feature the Renaultsport Sound Pipe. The feature works by transmitting the car's engine noise into the cabin via a pipe, which amplifies it mechanically using a membrane.
The optional Cup chassis for the new Renaultsport Clio is available at £450. It offers a 3mm lowered ride height, a 15 per cent stiffer chassis, red brake callipers and gloss black 18-inch Renaultsport wheels shod with special racing track tyres, all maximising the potential driving fun with the new Clio hot hatch.
The optional kit list for the standard Renaultsport Clio 200 Turbo includes extra tinted rear windows and tailgate for £250 and climate control for £410, while the Lux model can feature a rear parking camera for £350.
A choice of seven sounds is available, three of which are specific to the new Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo. These sounds include those from the Alpine A110, the Renault R8 Gordini and the Nissan GT-R supercar.
Ordering for the new Clio flagship opens on 8 April 2013, before taking centre stage in showrooms from June.
UK motorists will be able to place their order for the new Renaultsport Clio at Perrys Renault Dealership in Aylesbury.
