2014 Chevrolet Corvette UK prices hinted
Over in America the pricing range for the new Corvette C7 muscle car has been officially announced, where it will start at $51,995 in the hard-top specification and $56,995 in its convertible form.
In Britain the Corvette Stingray will be made available by Chevrolet for official import purchases, albeit in left-hand drive only.
The current generation version of the Chevrolet Corvette, the C6 model, is currently priced at £62,996 for importing. The new Corvette C7 is expected to be more expensive due to its more powerful engine and the extra onboard technology in comparison.
Based on this factor and the differences in the Corvette C6's pricing between America and the UK, reports suggest the new Corvette C7 Stingray will be priced from around £65,000. However some importers reportedly suggest the muscle car could actually start from a lower price region of £55,000.
The bold-looking 2014 Corvette is powered along by a 450bhp 6.2-litre V8 petrol engine connected to either a six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters or a seven-speed manual transmission.
The driver can adjust the new Corvette towards five different driving modes, which alter the throttle response, steering feel and the set-level of traction control. The settings include "Eco" for more efficient running, "Weather" for roads with a lower level of grip then standard. Finally there's also "Sport" and "Track" setting which push the Corvette to its full performance limits.
Other features of the new Chevrolet Corvette include the lighter aluminium chassis, and other lighter components including a carbon fibre bonnet and new detachable roof panels.
As a result of these changes, the new Corvette is over 60kg lighter than its predecessor, a change that should highly benefit the car's handling and shorten braking distances.
UK motorists will be able to make an order next year for the new Chevrolet Corvette from Perrys Chevrolet Dealerships in Dover and Rotherham.
