Volvo safety technology receives award
Swedish automobile manufacturing company Volvo has picked up an award for its collision-detecting safety technology.Its City Safety system, which enables vehicles to both avoid low-speed crashes and reduce the severity of collisions which do occur, received the Technology prize at today's Fleet World Honours Awards 2008.
Motorists in vehicles employing the technology could find it to be particularly beneficial when it comes to saving on a car insurance policy.
According to George Emmerson, chairman of the awards' panel of judges, the prize is recognition of the company's "commitment to researching and developing groundbreaking technologies".
"City Safety is among the cleverest [systems] so far, predicting when low-speed accidents will happen and preventing them from occurring," said the official.
This comes as a recent Eagle Tribune review described driving the Volvo C30 as an enjoyable experience.
Reviewer Jeffrey Zygmont stated that he was particularly enamoured with the model's turboed engine.
