Volkswagen 'reveals 2008 sales results'
Volkswagen has claimed it is doing relatively well despite the current economic climate.The manufacturer announced its sales figures for the year so far, with 5.29 million vehicles delivered around the world in the first ten months of 2008 - an increase of 2.8 per cent on the same period in 2007.
Despite the fact the number of cars the company sold in October was lower than in the same month last year, the executive vice president for group sales and marketing, Detlef Wittig, said the firm was doing well in comparison to other brands.
He stated: "There was a further very significant deterioration in the situation for the automotive industry all over the world in October."
Mr Wittig added: "Our group continued to gain market share in this difficult environment."
In other news, Volkswagen recently updated its website to include a section where customers can rate their car buying experiences at outlets across the UK.
