Volkswagen may have the answer for safety-conscious drivers
Car buyers looking for a vehicle that can help them avoid accidents may want to pay a visit to their local Volkswagen dealership.This is because the Golf has been awarded a maximum five-star rating in recent crash tests.
An assessment by Euro Ncap found the model performed well in four main areas.
The test takes into account child and adult occupant protection in the event of a crash, technology fitted to help drivers avoid collisions and pedestrian safety.
Buyers will find the Golf features the Electronic Stability Programme as standard and also comes with whiplash-optimised head restraints.
The Euro Ncap rating system was recently changed so vehicles were simply given one overall rating.
Volkswagen said this should help buyers compare models at a glance.
Earlier this month, the carmaker suggested individuals who had more money in their pocket as a result of falling mortgage repayments may want to take advantage of some of the great deals currently available on new motors.
