Volkswagen 'could help firms cut costs'

Businesses keen to cut costs may be interested in a new guide from Volkswagen.

The manufacturer has issued a publication detailing all the models it offers with CO2 emissions of 160 g/km or less.

It explained these autos may hold particular appeal to companies as they qualify for certain statutory charge benefits.

Communications manager Tracey Rossetti explained: "With the recent changes in taxation, business car managers will have to focus on emissions and whole-life costs rather than list price."

Organisations with models registered on or after April 1st this year qualify for a 20 per cent write-down allowance if their motors release between 111 g/km and 160 g/km of CO2.

Meanwhile, those with vehicles that emit less than this are eligible for a 100 per cent allowance during the first year of ownership.

As a result, fleet bosses may want to make their way to their nearest Volkswagen dealership to test drive some of the cars on offer.

One vehicle with CO2 emissions of 139 g/km is the Golf GTD.
