Volkswagen and Fiat 'offer two of the best green cars'
The Volkswagen Polo 1.4 BlueMotion 1 and the Fiat 500 have been named as two of the best green cars in the UK in a new report.Whatgreencar has compiled a list of the top ten eco-friendly models available on the market.
It stated, with many motorists feeling the effect of the slowing economy, there has never been a better time to invest in a small, fuel-efficient vehicle.
Director of the company Ben Lane said a significant number of British motorists had already started making savings by doing just that.
Talking about the effect of the economic downturn on the automotive industry, he stated: "The only winners have been the manufacturers of fuel-efficient cars in the mini and supermini segments."
Another vehicle which made Whatgreencar's top ten was Nice's electric MyCar.
This comes after the Department for Transport recently revealed it had set aside £100 million to help promote electric models.
