Power-hungry drivers may want to visit a VW dealership
Drivers who appreciate a powerful motor may want to visit their local Volkswagen car dealership later this year.The manufacturer has announced its new Golf R is due for release in the UK in December.
Currently on display at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, the model is the fastest-accelerating version ever.
Buyers will find the car can hit 62 mph in 5.7 seconds and boasts a maximum speed of 155 mph.
However, despite the auto's increased power, CO2 emissions on the model have been cut from 257 g/km to 199 g/km, compared to its predecessor - the R32.
Fuel efficiency has also been improved from 26.4 mpg to 33.2 mpg.
As a result, owners may find they save money on road tax and at the pump.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen is also displaying three new BlueMotion cars at the Frankfurt International Motor Show.
Autos in this range are designed to offer lower CO2 emissions than standard versions of the same vehicles.
