Industry stats show Volkswagen 'Europe's most wanted'
Volkswagen is the most popular brand of automaker in Europe, according to new research from within the automotive industry.Statistics from Jato Dynamics for September 2007 have shown that the firm is top of the heap in terms of sales, followed by Opal/Vauxhall, Ford and Peugeot.
This comes despite the company selling fewer vehicles over the course of the month than they did one year earlier.
However, Fiat saw a 7.2 per cent increase in volume compared to September 2006, while its Punto model was picked up by 27,811 motorists during the period.
The Volkswagen Golf, Ford Fiesta and Peugeot 207 were all snapped up regularly by drivers over the timeframe.
Meanwhile, Reuters has reported that there may still be some good news for the German automaker.
In terms of worldwide sales, Volkswagen had its most successful September last month, posting an increase of 6.5 per cent.
