Hollywood star lends voice to VW
British actor Ray Winstone is to be the voice behind a new promotional campaign from German car manufacturer Volkswagen (VW), the firm has announced.The thespian, famous for his roles in Sexy Beast, Beowulf and The Departed, is to team up with the company to produce a series of nine radio adverts.
Winstone will also appear in the latest Indiana Jones adventure, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, alongside Cate Blanchett and Shia LaBeouf.
Over 250 radio stations will broadcast the promos, which will come at the end of traffic and travel bulletins and can be accessed using the related function on most in-vehicle stereo systems.
According to Ralf Schueler, marketing official for the firm, the actor represents a good match with VW.
"With his gravelly authority and reputation for straight talking, Ray Winstone is the perfect spokesman," said the company representative.
