Golf may have led to increased visits to VW dealerships
Visits to Volkswagen car dealerships across Europe may have remained relatively high - despite the recession - thanks to the manufacturer's latest Golf model, if new figures are anything to go by.Data provided by Jato Dynamics has revealed sales of the model throughout Europe rose 26.9 per cent last month, compared with July 2008.
Meanwhile, registrations for the vehicle for the year-to-date have grown by 15.5 per cent.
The car was the most popular model among European buyers last month, despite the fact the small auto market also enjoyed something of a resurgence.
Jato Dynamics spokesman David Dr Girolamo explained there are a number of reasons why more diminutive motors are selling well.
He stated: "The much talked about green shoots of recovery can be seen in the small car segment, which is the greatest beneficiary of scrappage incentives and European customers' desire to move to more affordable cars."
Meanwhile, a new version of the Golf Plus may tempt even more drivers into Volkswagen dealerships.
The latest BlueMotion edition of the model boasts CO2 emissions of 114 g/km.
