Vauxhall wins eco award

Vauxhall cars have been given an environmental seal of approval after picking up the environmental award at this year's Fleet World ceremony.

The car manufacturer's ecoFLEX technology was praised by the judging panel as an example of the firm's efforts to ensure fleets have access to environmentally-friendly Vauxhall cars.

"With its ecoFLEX range, Vauxhall has committed to reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in cars with conventional internal combustion engines - it achieves this through clever technological and aerodynamic innovation," said Fleet World editor Ken Rogers.

He added: "The aim is, quite simply, to make highly efficient vehicles available at affordable prices."

The range of Vauxhall cars fitted with the ecoFLEX technology includes the Vauxhall Insignia, which has been named European Car of the Year 2009.

Earlier this month, Vauxhall announced the launch of the most eco-friendly vehicle in the company's history.

Unveiling the new Vauxhall Corsa ecoFLEX, the company said the car cuts 13 per cent off the outgoing model's emissions figure to deliver 85.6 mpg and a combined CO2 rating of just 105 g/km.
