Vauxhall urges drivers to hide their keys

Vauxhall has teamed up with Bedfordshire Police to remind motorists how important it is to keep car keys hidden in the home.

The manufacturer explained it was keen to get involved with the campaign, after conducting research that showed drivers are not being conscientious enough when it comes to this vital aspect of vehicle security.

It pointed out some £39.5 million worth of autos were taken by criminals after house burglaries in 2008.

The group stated this is why it is crucial to hide keys away from prying eyes.

However, its study found 99 per cent of motorists give no thought at all to where they leave this important item.

Spokesman Simon Ewart said: "It's easy to forget that a car key is a valuable possession that needs to be kept safe."

Meanwhile, Vauxhall dealerships up and down the country are expecting deliveries of the new Astra later this year.
