Vauxhall announces MOT insurance scheme

Vauxhall car drivers have been invited to join a special MOT insurance scheme.

The manufacturer announced it was introducing the initiative to provide owners with valuable peace of mind.

It explained the policy covers drivers for the cost of repairs on a variety of parts.

The carmaker pointed out the protected areas include steering and suspension, mirrors, brakes, seatbelts, lighting and the fuel system.

Should a car or car-derived van fail its MOT, the policy will cover repairs worth up to £750.

The test insurance is available on most of the manufacturer's models which are less than eight years old and have a maximum of 80,000 miles on the clock, providing there are at least six months to go until its MOT assessment is due.

In addition, vehicles also need to possess an up-to-date service history.

Earlier this month, Vauxhall announced it had claimed the majority share of the passenger car market in the UK during December.
