Vauxhall Vectra beats all comers in touring car tests
The Vauxhall Vectra has staked its claim for the hearts of motor sport enthusiasts after posting the fastest times in practice for the new touring car season. In the first official test session for the new Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season, VX Racing driver Fabrizio Giovanardi led from start to finish, while team-mate Tom Chilton finished in sixth position.
The result is even more impressive considering the fact that the team has just switched from a model derived from the Astra to the Vectra ahead of the new season.
"I immediately felt it was a good car in the pre-season testing," affirmed Giovanardi, before adding that the car is "both fast and consistent".
Meanwhile, Chilton echoed the point and stressed that the car has the potential to go even faster in the future.
"We are only in the basic stages of setting the car up and there is so much more to come," he explained.
Recently, Chilton took a place on the inaugural British Schools Karting Championship final in London as a goodwill gesture to promote motor sports to the younger generation.
