The Vauxhall Tigra has been praised as the perfect choice for hairdressers thanks to its sense of fun and style, according to new claims from an insurance company.

Research from Diamond revealed that hairdressers are four times more likely to drive a Tigra than anyone else, while Ford Kas and Volkswagen Beetles are also popular among the profession.

Also, the Peugeot 106 and Mini have been enduringly popular among coiffeurs - although the company noted that hairdressers are more likely to have accidents than other car owners.

Sian Lewis, managing director at Diamond, commented: "It's not surprising that the Tigra is so popular amongst hairdressers, as it's stylish, modern and the metal folding roof allows them to show off their latest cut."

The current Vauxhall Tigra was introduced in 2004 to replace the successful Corsa-based model that ran from 1997, which was exported to several countries, including Australia and Brazil.
