Vauxhall tops new sales chart
Vauxhall has achieved the highest number of new car registrations in the UK for the second time in three months, it has been reported.Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders revealed the Astra, Corsa and Zafira all made an appearance in the top ten most popular models for February.
Out of these, the Corsa sold the most - at 2,856.
In total, the manufacturer shifted 9,372 new cars last month.
Marketing director Andy Gilson said: "This is proof, if proof were needed, that the Vauxhall brand is as strong as ever in the British car market."
He added the company was anticipating a hectic March, with the launch of the new 09-plate.
Earlier this week, Vauxhall revealed it intends to start producing the electric Ampera model for the UK market in 2012.
Carl-Peter Forster, General Motors president in Europe, confirmed at the Geneva motor show that it would be a right-hand drive vehicle.
