Vauxhall Corsa SRi 'set for launch'

Car buyers have been put on alert by news that Vauxhall is preparing to unveil a new version of the popular Corsa supermini.

Set to go on sale in Vauxhall car dealerships across the UK from September 2007, the new Corsa SRi will be made available with both petrol and diesel engines, reports Auto Express.

The 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine offers superior performance and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds, while the "frugal" 1.7-litre turbodiesel variation can hit the same speed in 9.3 seconds.

Motoring journalist Sam Hardy has also outlined the features that are most likely to impact upon the car's handling.

"Both cars have stiffened suspension, lowered by 18 mm at the front and 15 mm at the rear, plus speed-sensitive power-steering and stability control," he explained.

In related Vauxhall news, last month saw the British-based automaker launch the new Astra TwinTop Exclusiv Black convertible, which boasts features such as heated seats and 18-ins alloys
