Vauxhall announces sales figures
Vauxhall sold more new cars than any other manufacturer in the UK during December, it has been announced.According to the company, it registered 19,058 vehicles last month - a drop of 5.93 per cent on the same four-week period in 2007.
It pointed out the fall in its sale figures was significantly lower than the decline of 21.22 per cent reported by the new car industry as a whole.
The manufacturer also drew attention to the fact it had outsold its rivals in Scotland in 2008, with the Corsa proving to be its most popular.
Andy Gilson, Vauxhall's marketing director, commented: "We're delighted to be at the top of the UK's registration league once again and also buoyed by the Corsa's strong performance in Scotland."
In related news, the manufacturer recently claimed it was a good choice for environmentally-friendly motorists, as it produces 366 model variants which have carbon dioxide emissions of less than 160 g/km of CO2.
