The new Vauxhall Meriva has been praised in an automotive review for the level of spaciousness that it offers motorists.

Writing in Netcars, the motoring journalist gave the third-generation model four stars out of five for the characteristics of quality and reliability, and comfort.

However, the maximum five-star rating was reserved for roominess and the reviewer explained why the latest Meriva stood out from rivals in the compact multi-purpose vehicle sector in this category.

"The cabin is as spacious as before and packed with neat stowage compartments, while the rear seats fold into numerous different configurations to allow you to vary the relative amounts of legroom and luggage space," the journalist commented.

The Meriva is also sold under the Opel brand on the continent and under the Chevrolet brand in parts of Latin America.

All three automotive groups are owned by General Motors, which is the largest automaker in the world.
