Vauxhall launches new Astravan

Vauxhall has announced that its new Astravan is to go on sale in October, priced at £9,995.

The British manufacture said that the new Astravan is based on designs for the Astra estate and, as a result, should handle and perform like a car rather than a van.

However, in order to accommodate extra load space and a completely flat floor the rear axle has been designed so the fuel tank could be repositioned.

The fifth-generation model also features modified power steering and suspension, delivering reduced tyre wear and lower fuel consumption.

This modification, in addition to a 58mm longer and 9mm wider floor, has also enabled greater load capacity than the outgoing model, with payload increasing by 45kg.

Four engines types are available for the new Astravan, including the 90bhp 1.4 petrol, 120bhp 1.9 CDTi diesel, 90bhp 1.3 CDTi diesel and the 100bhp 1.7 CDTi diesel, all of which are Euro 4-compliant.

The Astravan comes with remote central locking with deadlocks, driver and passenger airbags, ABS anti-lock brakes, tinted tailgate glass, electric windows, height-adjustable driver's seat and a CD-player as standard.

Optional extras include rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlights, the Intelligence Pack, with on-board computer, rear parking sensors, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, 16" alloy wheels and headlamp washers and front fog lights.

Furthermore, customers have a choice of nine exterior colours, and Club and Sportiv trim levels.
