New Astra may cause motorists 'to do a double-take'

Motorists who visit Vauxhall dealerships across the UK later this year may do a double-take when they catch sight of the new Astra.

According to the manufacturer, the most recent incarnation of the model has very little in common with its predecessors.

Marketing manager Andy Gilson claimed the only thing that remains the same is the name.

He also predicted the model would prove popular with a wide range of people and retain its status as the number one British-built car.

"We're confident that its blend of dynamic design, new-to-class technology and immense driver appeal will attract an even broader spectrum of buyers in this sector," Mr Gilson stated.

The car features adaptive damping - and Vauxhall advised this has resulted in improved comfort and handling.

In addition to this, the manufacturer said the car boasts "distinctive" styling and a spacious interior.

Earlier this week, Vauxhall suggested its range of parking sensor accessories could be useful for people who have to negotiate their way into tight spaces.
