Jaguar XKR convertible is "a beaut"
Jeremy Clarkson claims he cannot recall a bad review of any new Jaguar - and the Jaguar XKR convertible is unlikely to buck the trend.The Top Gear presenter says at the very heart of the new Jaguar car is a five-litre supercharged engine, which can go from 50 to 70mph in a "mind-blowing" 1.9 seconds.
"This thing could rip a [Porsche] 911 clean in half while actually eating a BMW 6-series. And it'd still have enough energy left to pull a [Mercedes-Benz] SL's spine out," he writes in the Times.
Waxing lyrical about the new Jaguar, Clarkson adds the sports car gives you more "bucking broncos for your bucks" than any other in its class.
What is more, its 503bhp engine produces a mere 292 carbon dioxides - which places it in the new top tax band that starts in May.
Meanwhile, Graham Bell of Piston Heads says the XKR is only available with an automatic gearbox, a feature that makes the ride smooth and quiet.
