Drivers 'risking their safety by emulating screen heroes'
Motorists are putting themselves and other road users at risk as a result of picking up bad habits from TV and film characters, a new report has suggested.Research by Confused.com revealed over a million drivers in the UK are influenced by the driving antics of their on-screen heroes.
Nearly a quarter of 17 to 24-year-olds said films like Casino Royale and the Italian Job have had a direct impact on their behaviour behind the wheel.
Overall, motorists in the capital were the worst offenders with 18 per cent admitting their driving has been affected by TV programmes and movies.
Commenting on the study, Will Thomas from Confused.com said: "Driving erratically and dangerously is far from astute, especially for people who live in regions which are as built-up as London."
One classic car chase scene from the 1960s occurs in the film Bullitt, when Steve McQueen races through the streets of San Francisco in a Ford Mustang Fastback GT.
