Seat launches eco-friendly car

Spanish car manufacturer Seat has announced that it is to launch an eco-friendly model next year.

The automaker said its new Ibiza Ecomotive was the cleanest and greenest vehicle it had ever produced, due to its "cutting edge" engineering.

Instead of utilising hybrid technology, the car features an "ultra-economical" three-cylinder turbo-diesel engine.

Seat praised the vehicle for its energy-efficiency and relatively low carbon emissions, as well as its "exciting" appearance.

The firm stated that the model was likely to make a big impact among the car-buying fraternity, as it would allow them to reduce their carbon footprint at an affordable price.

Motorists will be able to snap up the Ecomotive at a price starting from £10,995, with both three and five-door models available in dealerships.

Although drivers can order the vehicle immediately, they will not be able to get behind the wheel until April 2008.

This coincides with the publication of new government guidelines regarding eco-friendly motoring, which includes different ways of reducing fuel consumption.
