Seat dealerships may have the answer for security-conscious car buyers

People looking for the kind of motor that will not be an easy target for thieves may want to drop in on their local Seat dealership.

This is because the Ibiza has driven away with an accolade from the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards.

Finishing first in the supermini class, the car was awarded a maximum five-star rating for technology designed to make it hard for criminals to steal the vehicle.

It also received a four-star mark for features put in place to stop thieves breaking into the auto.

Peter Wyhinny, head of Seat in the UK, commented: "To see the Ibiza secure such an impressive vote of confidence in its security is ... very important."

The honours were established in 2004 to reward manufacturers leading the way in the fight against vehicle crime.

Seat has never won one of the awards before.

Earlier this week, the carmaker announced prices for the Ibiza FR, Cupra and Bocanegra – due to be released in the UK in October – would start at £14,995.
