Seat unveils new 'rugged' off-road vehicle
Advertisers could start looking to advertise on domains outside of the world's top ten - a list that includes properties such as myspace.com, google.com, yahoo.com and facebook.com, according to new claims from one expert.Jarvis Coffin, who runs Burst Network, an internet advertising services firm, claimed that there is an unsustainable trend that has seen almost all internet advertising revenues ploughed into the world's top-ten domains.
Speaking to BetaNews, Mr Coffin explained that 99 per cent of ad dollars are spent on the world's top domain names - but this could change as advertisers start to question their strategies as the number of valuable domain names double over the next few weeks.
He used this analogy: "If you've got X number of elephants balancing on the head of a pin, and you're going to double the number of elephants on that same pin, it isn't going to work."
Mr Coffin concluded by saying that ad-cluttered web pages for some top domain names could also repel some consumers, reducing the value of the advertisements.
A recent report from eMarketer suggested that the advertising money spent on social networking domain names is set to exceed expectations.
