Seat launches new Altea XL
Seat has announced the continuing expansion of its portfolio with the launch of an expanded Altea.Targeted at the family market, the new Altea XL boasts a spacious interior and large luggage capacity, in addition to a high safety standard rating.
As its name suggests the Altea XL is larger than the existing Altea, increasing boot space by 123 litres while by sliding the rear seats forward an additional 103 litres of space can be created.
Stylistically the Altea XL's rear lines have been softened to reflect its role as a family car, while large tail-light units are a noticeable feature. Meanwhile, the addition of two roof-rack rails cements the XL's family status still further.
The Altea XL also boasts a number of original features, such as fold-down tables on the back of the front seats, a luggage cover and a power socket in the boot.
A TomTom navigation device can also be fitted via an optional connection to the left of the dashboard. The TomTom 710 navigation system, which includes customised maps, will be available from the Seat accessories catalogue.
Five engine types will be available, with a choice of two petrol and three diesel versions. These include the 102bhp 1.6 and the 150bhp 2.0 FSI petrol engines, which is only available with the six-speed Tiptronic gearshift
The diesel versions, meanwhile, include the 140 hp 2.0 TDI, featuring the six-speed DSG gearshift as an option, the 170 hp 2.0 TDI and the 1.9 TDI delivering 105bhp.
It also comes with a radio and MP3 player including Aux-in connection and six speakers, 16 inch steel wheels, cruise control, front and rear power windows, tyre pressure sensor, air conditioning and trip computer.
