Renault acquires Irish importer Glencullen

French automobile manufacturer Renault has agreed a deal to acquire one of its importers.

Glencullen will be a part of the Renault Group from November 1st 2007 so long as its meets the approval of the appropriate authorities.

The automaker has implemented the move as part of its Renault Commitment 2009 and is looking to achieve a nine per cent market share in the Ireland by 2010.

But the efforts of Glencullen chairman Bill Cullen over the last two decades have been acknowledged by the group.

"We are grateful to Bill Cullen for the outstanding job he has done for 21 years in Ireland, which will definitely enable Renault to become a leading brand by 2009, in terms of customer satisfaction, quality and profitability," said Rachid Assas, future marketing director at Renault Ireland.

Renault reported a 5.4 per cent increase in French sales in September 2007 against numbers from the same month in 2006, according the Wall Street Journal.
