Renault set to unveil Clio Sport Tourer

Renault has announced it will unveil its new Clio Sport Tourer at next month's Frankfurt Motor Show.

The new model is the first estate version of Renault's enduringly popular supermini and will look familiar to those who saw the Clio Grand Tour concept car at this year's Geneva Motor Show.

The Sport Tourer is aimed at motorists who need a car with plenty of space for their leisure activities, but do not want to lose the driveability of a supermini.

Renault promises it will offer the same combination of "driving pleasure, interior space, comfort and safety" as the latest versions of the Clio, but will also provide owners with 439 litres of luggage space.

The French carmaker anticipates the Clio Sport Tourer reaching the UK's showrooms in the spring of 2008.

Figures recently published by automotive intelligence provider Jato Dynamics showed the Renault Clio was the seventh most popular new car in Europe during the first six months of 2007, selling 213,272 units.
