Through its sponsorship of a brand new Peugeot 207, Perrys on Walton Road, Farlington has enabled the Mary Rose Outreach Programme to visit more people than ever before.
The Mary Rose Outreach Programme is a unique initiative run by the Mary Rose Trust. Staff, in costume and equipped with artefacts and other items of historical interest, visit specialist schools, hospitals, retirement homes and other places where the residents may find it difficult to visit the Mary Rose Museum in person. This way the Museum can, in essence, be brought to them, making it possible for anyone to enjoy the history of the Mary Rose.
Jo Cole, Corporate Fundraiser for the Mary Rose Trust, commented: "We've been running the Outreach Programme for 18 months now but have, up until now, had to rely on staff using their own vehicles, which has limited the distance we can travel and the trips we can make. Now, with this generous donation from Perrys, we can make even more visits further enabling us to work towards making this initiative a nationwide service."
Perrys General Manager, Bob Wright, added: "We are extremely pleased to have sponsored the Trust with this vehicle which, it is hoped, will enable more people to enjoy what the museum has to offer while, at the same time, saving thousands of pounds which can be used to further enhance the facilities and historical depth of the facility."
Jo Cole picked up the brand new silver 207, which is liveried up in the Mary Rose Trust corporate colours, from Perrys on Jan 7th 2008. Jo added: "2008 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the Trust and I would like to thank Perrys for helping us to continue to engage with the community in a personal and interactive way."
