Peugeot 'proud of its green credentials'

People looking to buy an environmentally-friendly car may want to head down to their nearest Peugeot dealership, after recent figures showed the manufacturer is the number one green auto company in Europe.

Statistics cited by the group revealed in 2008 it sold more low CO2 models than any other firm.

The company pointed out one in every six cars bought last year across the continent that offered emissions of less than 121 g/km was a Peugeot.

In total, the manufacturer's line-up includes 36 vehicles that fall into this category.

Commenting on the company's environmental credentials, marketing director Christian Stein said: "We are delighted to be comprehensively leading the green race, with the benefit of lower running costs for our customers."

Meanwhile, the carmaker recently revealed the Peugeot 308 CC, which is due to arrive in showrooms at the beginning of June, will be available in three trim levels - Sport, SE and GT.
