Peugeot 308 to benefit from Energy Savers

Buyers of some of the new Peugeot 308 models will be able to benefit from Michelin's Energy Saver tyres.

The French automaker's new family car is set to hit the UK's showrooms next month and will include a number of measures to cut fuel consumption and emissions, notably its class leading aerodynamics.

The 1.6 HDi 90 and 110 hp versions with 15 or 16-inch wheels will also utilise special tyres developed in conjunction with Michelin.

According to the manufacturer, the Energy Saver tyres reduce the amount of rolling resistance by 20 per cent, helping to save 0.2 litres of fuel per 100 km.

They also help to cut CO2 emissions by four g/km, resulting in an estimated one tonne reduction in the amount of CO2 emitted during the car's life.

Drivers who value style as much as the environment may be interested to know that Peugeot plans to unveil its 308 RC Z Concept Car at next month's Frankfurt Motor Show.

The versatile 2+2 has a 1.6-litre engine capable of producing 218 bhp, but with CO2 emissions of just 160 g/km.
